    My new Bottecchia

    Hi everyone,

I just picked this up yesterday. I'm waiting to here back from Kommisar89 to find out the exact year
of the frame, I think it a '90.
It's Columbus TSX and the gruppo is, as far as I can tell, Campy Triomphe. It's supposed be C-Record but, the guy or the shop who sold it to him new didnt care too much, I guess. I got it from the original owner who told me he only rode it about a dozen times before hanging it up.
I paid 600 for it. Does that sound like a good deal considering the gruppo isn't correct?

I can tell you where to look if you haven't been there. It helped me figure out what my components were for the most part.

Triomphe with exception to first-gen C-Record aero levers.

Beautiful bike. It's always dangerous to make geralizations about prices and whether you got a good deal. There is always some guy who finds a bike like yours at the thrift shop for $20 and thinks all of them should sell for that. Here's what I can tell you based on having monitored sales of Bottecchias on eBay for nearly a year now: a complete bike like yours with C-Record would go in the $1200-$1600 range. A bare frame like yours goes for around $400 give or take. Considering you got a complete bike for $600 I'd say you got a smokin' deal. Personally I would just replace that ugly Triomphe crankset with a C-Record or later Record and call it good.

+1, Sooo true! Comparison prices should be based on what similiar bikes are flipping for on CL in a average or high volume location or ebay price including reasonable shipping charges. Also, we should add to Kommisar89's comment that vintage bike prices are continuing to rise. With steel rimmed, hi-tensile steel, Schwinn World bikes selling for over $100 around here I don't think $600 is too high for a classic especially if you ride it regularly.

I've always been a softie for Bottechias. You will enjoy riding it as much as I enjoyed looking at it.
