old diamondback identification
so I have pulled an old diamondback out of retirement. Been parked in a heated basement since 2001. Its an old cross country. Metallic Green. I know its a pre 2000 and was wondering wheat it might really be. I went to bike pedia, even called diamondback and got no help, other than on bike pedia norrowed it down to maybe a 92 or 93..but the color does not match , nor do all the parts
I cant read the first letter/number of number stamped on bottom bracket. its either a I or T or 1..then the rest is 4A51016
it has 700 wheels, shimano hub on front cant find marks on rear
18 speed (3x6)
shimano SIS thumbshifters, crank and rear derailleur
front is shimano altus C10
flat bar, gel seat
quick release on front hub
vpull brakes
not that it really matters what year it is, it all works and shifts
just needs tires, tubes and grips
but it will get a full service ( by me) and BB must be gummed up as with chain off, its very stiff

Pics would help. By thumb shifter do you mean a lever on top of the bar you push with your thumb and pull with your index finger or a double set of levers under the bar that you push with your thumb?
"Vpull brakes"?
V Brakes
Cantilever
BTW when you say "cross country" does that refer to a model name? or the style of bike? does it have 26" or 700c wheels?

Still learning
The Cross Country an entry level hybrid, by virtue of it's low level Altus/SIS derailleurs. A decent basic workhorse. Some of the components should have 2 letter date codes, like the cranks or the hubs.
