Giubilato @ LBS info please :)

Hello,

Sorry I don't have any pics but at my LBS there was a blue Giubilato with full Campagnolo groupo minus the brakes and levers which were Modolo. Th

The guy was asking $350 which I thought seemed a bit high but I could be mistaken.

I'm pretty sure this was not a high end model for a number of reasons but correct me if I'm wrong...I'm just looking for info.

The campy components appeared to be Victory 6 speed but I'm not sure because nowhere on the parts did it say anything about the model.

The tubing was something I personally haven't heard of and couldn't find any information on. It was called Falick tubing (haha great name although wrong spelling) and the lug work was fairly simple if not bland.

The store owner also said that someone he knew used to race the bike.

Anyways what do you guys think and anyone have any idea about the tubing or any other information? Thanks

Kind of high for generic tubing and 'victory' components.

not much info on the Giubilato brand, but they seem to have been originally in Turin and associated with the Ganna and Sannino brands...later may have moved the shop(s) to Germany. Falck tubing (that's the correct spelling) was said to be drawn by the Mannesmann company and considered a lower-cost tubing alternative to Columbus and the other top brand name tubes. It's generally all seamless, but often not butted (plain gauge) and often just high-carbon steel (rather than cro-moly steel) tho Falck did offer a crom-moly set, too. It's not bad, just not got "the bling"...and a LOT of Italian builders used Falck stays and fork blades on their Columbus-tubed frames to save a few Lira where nobody would notice.

giubilato

Giubilato company is still in existence but they don't have a bike called a Giubilato they make Ganna. Kinda weird I know but Ganna bought out Giubilato in the early eighties they kept the Giubilato name but only make Ganna bikes. They did make some nice ones I recently sold one that was Columbus Aelle and had Miche and Campagnolo components. It was one of the lightest bikes at had at around 21 lbs. (tubulars tho) 56cm. The other one I have is a nice tri colour example with chrome lugs and all Victory components. (as someone has mentioned to me from this list "there is nothing wrong with Victory, it is very good stuff'.)
here is pic of my 1985 (i think) Giubilato all original, done up with 'italian bling'.
