Please Apraise my 1984 Raliegh Competition
As far as I know here I have a 1984 Raleigh Competition.
The Serial number is 4A5R0036
As far as I can tell its a Raleigh Competition Racing USA frameset. with 555sl tubing.
Colour is the the pearl white with chrome stays and fork and head tube.
The handlebars and stem and brakes are not stock I can tell.
The group set is all Shimano 600 except the front derailer which is Suntour Cyclone m-II, not sure if its original or not.
its a 16 speed now, but on the right chain stay its says Racing geometry 14 speed 47-117
and the wheels are aftermarket which i put on, just a simple pair of Xero lite XSR-3 cost $200 new.
I was wonder what I should be asking if I were to sell this bike as either just a frame set, frame set with components, or complete with the wheel set.
Thanks
Michael

I sold a similar Competition for $260. Mine was an '86 which was the only year for Reynolds 531 tubing and it had Shimano 600 EX components.

I would swap those wheels out if you have something better to use them on, as they will not get you much more for the bike IMHO.
I don't think the Raleigh proprietary tubing will bring a Reynolds 531 price. So I would discount it somewhat from Jim's estimate. Maybe $225 with regular wheels, a tad more with your newer wheels.
Good looking bike! That should help it sell fast, or perhaps for a little more.
