peugeot px or py?

Hi

I have recently acquired what I believe to be a high end Peugeot from the 80's and I would be very grateful if anyone could cast an eye over it and perhaps tell me what you think It is.

Firstly the frame has been repainted and has a 'reynolds renovated' decal so this has been of no help. There is no paper label and the number on the bottom bracket is very hard to read but I believe it is: B7093146

It is very light. Lighter than my 531c frames so I think It might be 531 professional. It had Shimano 600 Ultegra parts (6400), namely front and rear mechs, 6 spd down tube shifters, crankset and single pivot sidepull caliper brakes, Cinelli stem and giro d'italia bars and a san marco rolls saddle. The rear wheel is a mavic hub on a mavic rim and the front is a campagnolo record hub on a wolber tx profil rim. Tange Levin headset. Mavic threadless bottom bracket ( I'm not sure if this is original or a repair measure. On first inspection the bb threads seem ok but who knows)

TIA, Gray

The serial number should make it a 1987 or 1988 model and that is consistent with the double bottle bosses and pump peg. However, the 1987 had chromed forks while the 1988s did not, so it should be a 1988. The two 1988 models with that chrome treatment on the stays were the Chorus (Reynolds 753) and the Sante (Reynolds 531SL). None of the components would be OEM for either model, so that's not much help. Both frames had identical geometry and features so the only way to distinguish them would be if there was some overspray from the original color, inside the head or seat tube, or on the fork's steerer.

Curiously, the 1987 PX10 was equipped with Mavic but the frame was Columbus SLX. Still, the chrome coverage doesn't match. Regardless, a quick check inside the bottom bracket for the distinctive helical ridges in the tubes, will confirm or dispel SLX.

All this assumes it's a North American model.

My apologies for not mentioning it is in the UK.
Thank you for the response.

I can't comment on the 1987 UK models but for 1988 the UK candidates would be the Perthus Pro (Reynolds 753R) and the Aravis (Reynolds 531 Pro). Both models had frames with the same features and chrome treatment as yours. Both were Shimano equipped, so there are no component similarities.

I just bought a frame like that (even that size). It has the original metallic grey paint and is made of 531P. It's not a color in the 1988 catalog, but the decals are 1988. Maybe it was a UK model?

European decal schemes didnt always follow the same timeline as U.S. decal schemes. I think its a European model.
