    Is this worth considering?

    IMG00020-20100323-1655.jpgIMG00021-20100325-1700.jpgIMG00022-20100325-1701.jpgIMG00024-20100325-1701.jpgIMG00023-20100325-1701.jpg

I saw this on my local craigslist. Actually the ad was basically a teaser:

    http://bn.craigslist.org/bik/1658129189.html

Its a Ross Gran tour, not sure of the year, the graphics make it harder. Basic SIS components, chromoly main triangle. Seems like basically a nice beater.

I've been talking to the seller and will probably be looking at it in the next few days. He's willing to throw in some relatively nicer (Shimano Z Series) derailers and shifters, and I have some better brakes and levers, and some other parts.

I already have 6 bikes at home between me and my wife, and the only thing this bike has going for it is the size (25 inch frame, 35+ stand over)

So do what you do best, forum. State your opinions so that I can make up my mind. Thanks

$50-75 would be acceptable if in full function. $150-175 in a very active SF/NY-style market.

Yeah he's asking $75, seems a little high, maybe an indicator that I don't want it badly enough. Its Central IL so the market is pretty sluggish.

Super basic. I wouldn't go for it unless you're really hurting for a project.

Or, just low-ball him. If it's a slow-moving market, you'll be able to shoot him lower.

I would pass, unless you are looking for a bottom of the barrel beater bike. In that case, I would offer $25, maybe $30 tops. Myself, I would look for something better.

Does ISU ever sell off the bikes abandoned and locked to the racks? I seem to recall that one of the racks was covered, but I cannot remember where.
