I found a bike at the thrift store
I plan on keeping it but wanted to know something about it, It is a Raleigh Sprite 5 speed , I don't understand the gears, and wanted to know what it's worth, thanks.

What it's worth depends a lot on where you live. It's in very nice shape, and looks like it might be a large size (23" frame?) all of which are good things. Depending where you live, $100 - $200. In some areas, maybe more.
I imagine the gears are a Sturmey Archer 5 speed hub. Is there one shifter, or two? There should be a date on the rear hub --two digits such as 72 mean the hub was made in 1972. Another digit indicates the month.

two shifters , one goes to a lever that engages a button on the hub, the second shifter goes to a small chain that enters the hub on the opposite side. I can't seem to figure out the gears and what does what , I live in the burbs of Chicago but am moving to key west in 2 months and was looking for a cool bike, I think this is it.

If the gears work and are in great condition Iw ould agree with the 100+ range, but if not it's worth the weight in steel.
