How much should I offer for it.?? I was thinking 75-100?
The guy says for the most part it is in good condition, other than the pedals need servicing and the RD needs a cleaning.

If you get it for $100, and it's in very good to excellent condition, which it appears to be, you stole it.

...but you'll probably pay as much for brake lever hoods! :lol:

$75-100 might get you the crank or the headset :)

I think that $300 is a very good price for a buyer (based on the condition of a couple of items)

The right pedals is missing a couple of parts, btw, and you would need a donor pedal for that.

You guys are getting me all excited. I've got a Dura-Ace crank in the basement with chain rings. I need to know if it's worth the $100 ya'll are referring to. Pics later and I'll start a new thread.

The AX stuff is very hard to get... Check this for example... It is NOS and comes with a BB, but the only DA AX crank I've seen on the 'bay for a while. 740x and 7410 cranks reach triple digits often, esp. if they are nice, scratch free and clean. Heck, 74xx dust caps sell for $15-20 these days...

I remember selling just the rear derailleur on EBay a few years back for > $50.00. There are many aspects to the group that made it very unique (semi-indexing rear derailleur, aero shapes, center pull brakes) and worthwhile to collectors (yes, there are people that collect this stuff). $75 - $100 would be a steal -- the brakes alone are worth significantly more than that.

He wants 200 cash for it, gonna see what I can scrounge up.

For 2 large I'm passing on it.

Im gonna see if I can give him 100 and my 99 schwinn super stock 2. He has a thing for MTB and BMX...

I agree $200 would yield a smaller profit margin, but you would probably at least recoup the investment if you decide to sell. Do you intend to flip it on ebay, or do you have build plans? If you plan to build, then you'll have to locate an aero tubed frame, seat post, stem, hubs and brake lever hoods. It'll snowball...are you prepared for that? :)

+1 about the cost of a build with this... and another consideration: Brake pads go for around $50 for a set of 4 if you can find them...

Im not looking at a restore project. I was thinking about getting rid of the BB headset levers and pedals.

Sorry I do not know much about the dura ace line, why would I need the aero frame for? I know Dura ace has compatibility issues, this crank and drive train only works with each other dosent it??

Also that shwinn I want to trade him for I dont use, nor do I even like riding it. Its worth around 100 and I would rather just trade it sometime rather than going through the selling hassle..

I was just teasing from a purist's perspective. I always find myself in that dilemma - initially not concerned with 'correctness' but then caving to conformity at the time of the build.

I know what you mean when I built my bike over the winter, my original plan was to have a campy drivetrain. But as I looked more and more into the parts it bothered me that I didnt have campy hubs or dropouts. Plus it would have been on a peugeot, and when I do campy it will be a Italian frame.

Look at threads on those pedals! What is the Diameter? I have never built a bike with older Dura Ace, are they all like that?

Yes, that's typical AX threading, much larger diameter than standard pedals. I have a set of Deore AX with the same large diameter thread. You are missing the back plate on one pedal. Make sure you get them complete (including screws).
