Klein Serial number S121

I have a Klein serial number S121 in very food condition with original parts etc. I know very little about this bike and I would like to know its age, if it is of any historic value etc. I did change the handle bars so the bike is more comfortable for my back.

Thank you,

Steven Stein

Unless you have a Klein secret decoder ring, that serial number is pretty meaningless. Date the bike by looking up the component codes at the vintage Trek site, pretty much every part on that bike will have them.

Also go to bikepedia, they have anything 1993 or newer. They often do not have pictures, so you have to ID a bike there by component level and color.

Full size pics (use a hosting site like Flickr) would also assist. If you are planning to sell that bike, I would change out that stem immediately.

Hard to say with those pictures. Is that a replacement fork?

Thank you for your suggestions. I will look up the parts and try to get better pictures. The handle bar stem is new but that would not be difficult to replace.

Again, thank you Steven Stein.

The chainstays appear quite long or it has 650's or it was originally to be a tri bike, I really doubt a touring bike, it is very hard to go much beyond that with the images provided.
