need help identifying this bottecchia, pretty please
photobucket album his here http://s935.photobucket.com/albums/a...70/bottecchia/
pics below. modolo brakes miche pedals miche cranks shimano derauilers and oddly enough, the bike has 21 speeds. 7 in back and 3 up front, which i thought was strange for a race bike. there are no stickers so i'm not sure what year this is. thre is a pic of the headtube in here. as far as i can tell there is zero rust on it. it rides great, handles great, it's just a great bike all around. i'm trying to figure out what year/model it is and what it might be worth because it's too small for me. i'd like to sell it and get something my size. my camera sucks (or i dont know how to use it) so apololgies for the crappy pics http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/a...a/IMG_1187.jpg http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/a...a/IMG_1186.jpg http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/a...a/IMG_1185.jpg http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/a...a/IMG_1183.jpg http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/a...a/IMG_1182.jpg http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/a...a/IMG_1181.jpg http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/a...a/IMG_1180.jpg http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/a...a/IMG_1179.jpg http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/a...a/IMG_1178.jpg http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/a...a/IMG_1177.jpg |
would better pictures help? i just want to sell this thing but i dont know where to start the price.
|
You will need better pictures to sell it. And what model Shimano? Indexed or friction shifting? Frame tubing material?
Needs some minor TLC, or the price will take a serious hit. |
I gather this bike is in Europe somewhere? I agree with work101 certainly needs a good cleaning and tuning. if that triple is from the factory it was likely intended as a "sport tourer" or a modern day randonneurer. thinking that perhaps the Modolo and Miche as well as the Ambrosio rims are stock components I would say this is like a Bianchi Campione de italia or Eros from about '90ish.

i'm not familiar with campione de italia or eros. any idea what a fair asking price should be for this one? |
Not too much until it has been cleaned up and some of the minor cosmetic defects addressed. Paint on down tube looks pretty chipped up. Lower end Shimano components.
Hard to tell value from those pictures. Where are you located, and how are your marketing skills? |
i'm in virginia beach and my marketing skill are terrible. :)
i think the son of the previous owner, or perhaps the previous owner himself, removed the downtube stickers via razor blade. UGH. that's why there are chips everywhere. i'm not sure what color the frame is, some kind of really really really REALLY dark blue. at first glance, i thought it was black. if i knew what model it was, i would pickup the correct decals off ebay, fix the chips with probably black paint, and then cover them with the decals. |
some new pics, playing with the macro feature on the camera. is $300 too much to ask for this bike?

I think $200 is a bettter price. what is with the pics of the valve? is that a selling point? I agree the DT looks terrible. was this tuned, how many gears in the back? the position of the rear shifter looks very odd
|
Pictures seem fixated with the saddle for some reason. Need a good picture of the complete bike, in one picture, from the drive side. Then a close up of the crank (in focus) and the rear derailleur. And then a closeup of any decal describing frame material. Seat post and clamp are indicative of a low end bike, ditto the pressed steel low end Shimano derailleurs.
As is, still dirty, chipped up a lot, it is a donor bike. $100 MAX, maybe $75. $300 for that bike? No way. |

That bike probably didn't cost more than $200 new. It is basically one step up from a department store bike, very low end. $75 would be a fair price.
