    Trek 560 as personal rider?

A veteran cyclist in my community offered me this bike for sale. According to him, it's an 87 model, and it appears to be VERY clean. I know vintage Treks get lots of respect around here, but I know little about the various models. Do you think this would be worth $300 as a personal rider? Bike appears to be well maintained and original, although the combination of Dura Ace stem and Cinelli bars seems odd. It's exactly my size, and rides wonderfully, as if you barely have to pedal at all. I have been looking for higher end rider, and I think this might be the one. Would love your thoughts/impressions. (Could not find the valuation thread).

    Trek 560
    Reynolds 531 frame
    600 SIS/EX components, 6-speed
    Dura Ace stem
    Cinelli bars
Matrix hard anodized rims on 600 hubs
    Brooks saddle (Professional I believe?)

Don't bother, you'll hate the bike.... Just send it to me

In all seriousness, if it fits you GRAB IT! I have (2) 531 Treks (84 610 & 86 Elance 400) and I love them both. As far as price goes, (valuations forum is now on another forum C&V valuations and appraisals), if you like it, it fits and there are no issues, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it as a rider. I don't think you could flip it for much (market pending) but, it appears to be in great shape. The Brooks Pro saddle ($150-$180 new) is "worth" half the price already so I'm confident you wouldn't end up behind the 8-ball. Keep us posted!

Oh and another thing, I have the same d/r s on my 84 610 and I'm very happy with them. I'm currently running a 7spd cassette and have no issues with the R/D.

I have the exact same year and model (560EX - the regular 560 had Shimano 105 parts) but I haven't yet had the chance to rebuild and ride it. I'd say the price is decent as well, especially with the Brooks. By the way, the original stem and bars were SR so you're getting better parts there. If they ride as nice as you say I guess I'll have to get going on mine .

531 frame and Brooks Pro plus good Shimano bits - I doubt you'd have an iota of regret. It looks great too.

Thanks all! It really does fit great, so money will be changing hands shortly. This one-owner private seller stuff sure beats Craigslist : )

Even the Mrs. can see this is a keeper. This will be a big step up!

I bought one in '86 and rode it exclusively for over 20 years for every kind of riding from commuting, club ridesand loaded touring. Just did another 20 miles on it this afternoon and saw this thread so I thought I should warn you--you might not want another bike.
