Question about Shimano 333 internal 3-speed hub
Here's the deal: I was gifted a nice old low-mileage RoadKing bike yesterday because the front forks got bent out of shape. Pretzel time. The rear end of the bike escaped unharmed and it has 26-inch tires on a nice chromed Made In Canada rim with a nice shiny Shimano 333 internal 3-speed hub.
I ride an old ten-speed Peugeot and have no interest in this type of bike or these types of parts but I hate to see good parts go into the garbage so I stripped the bike of the complete rear wheel assembly complete with the Shimano control levers, cable assembly with cable, cable stop & pulley. Drive sprocket looks pretty good. Before removing the hub & controls I turned the pedals and the hub turned at three distinct speeds relative to the sprocket:
1- Slower than the sprocket.
2 -Equal to the sprocket.
3 -Faster than the sprocket.
I have no idea if there is any interest in this stuff but I'm going to throw it onto Craigslist in Toronto instead of on the front lawn for the scrap collector.
Is $25 is too much to ask for this hub & cable assembly ?

$25 is just about right. If it was a S-A hub, value would be higher. Someone will snap it up at that price.

Except that Sheldon diss-ed the Shimano 333 internal, and therefore the public will follow suit.
Otherwise agree with wrk101 in that later series of Shimano internals definitely worth US$25.
A perfect pair of Made in Canada chromed steel hoops (cut from hubs of course) might be worth a little more. I know Made in England hoops would be. But you may savvy Canadian interest in yer-own chrome bike-bits better than me.
