Colnago bottom bracket question
I need to upgrade the bottom bracket on my older Colnago - currently has loose bearings Zeus 2000 36x24, with a tapered 118 x 57C axle. Strangly enough, both sides of the bracket are proper threading ("righty-tighty, lefty-loosy"), even though that goes against what Sheldon B has on his site. I'd like to put in a Shimano cartridge to support an older Ultegra octalink crankset vice the late-80's Campy C-Record that I have currently, but I'm not wedded to the idea...any suggestions?

Sounds like standard Italian threading to me. Which Sheldon has on his site as well.

+1, Italian is 36mm x 24TPI and both cups are right hand thread. Nothing strange there.

an "older ultegra octilink"? that sounds odd considering you are talking to a group that thinks a cartridge square taper BB is the 'latest and greatest' cycling invention
I don't understand why you want to take a Campi crank off but I think your hardest problem may be finding a Italian octalink BB

There's no problem getting Italian threaded, Octalink cartridge bottom brackets. The only issue is that they don't make inexpensive versions. You have to go with 105, 600 Ultegra or Dura-Ace.

Only reason I was going with the possibility of a cartridge was that the bearings were definately shot on the current set-up, and I had the Ultegra set on hand. I checked the races and they seemed to be in good shape, so I ordered new .25" bearings off of SB's site. Hopefully, this will do the trick. Thanks for the comments.
