1983 Schwinn Super Sport
2 Attachment(s)
I just bought this Schwinn Super Sport and picked it up. It's a 58CM bike and the rims are araya 700c, tires are original and both aired up. The bars have been cheanged and it has a Avocet seat. The bike is in very good shape the paint is real nice other than a couple decals. I rode last night and it is real light compared to my 73 Super Sport. It looks like this bike is a keeper. I bought both of these bikes off of Craigslist cheap, the 73 already had a sigino maxy BB. What are they worth if I was to sell them?

Hi Muncie,
Based on the photos, both bikes appear to be in pretty good shape. The '73 has the classic fillet-brazed straight gauge chromoly frame and someone has upgraded the one-piece Ashtabula crank to the three-piece alloy crank. That's good. These bikes often sell for around $200 on eBay. The '83 has a lugged double-butted Tange Champion chromoly frame with later (and lighter) components and a 6-speed freewheel. I'm guessing the right buyer would probably pay ~$250 or so for it. |
Sell the red one first. Adjust the position of the brake levers and do a general clean\ tune-up first. Learn from it before selling the better one.

Fork might be bent on that red bike. Assuming I am wrong, cleaned up with new cables and housings, matching tires, ready to ride, in a decent market, it should bring $200, maybe slightly more. But it will take some minor work first.

Hi Stan,
I saw I got this posted twice, I'll try to get it deleted. I thought about taking the 700c wheels off the 83 and using them on the 73. I know the 73 frame is fillet brazed and I'm planning on keep it. I have 3 of the Schwinns now and I'm just trying to upgrade some bikes and parts, I've been looking for a Paramount. Thanks for the help on my Schwinns. |
