Schwinn Super Sport - nearly NOS condition

I figured I'd put this in the proper forum.

I'm wondering about the possible value for this bike. Nearly New Old Stock condition with the only exception being slight nicks from storage. ALL original, tires still good and original, not worn. Wheels have NO brake scuff on them, saddle is unblemished and not a spot of rust or crud anywhere. Original tape, etc. I'll clean/dust it and take more pics later.

'86 Schwinn Super Sport size 57. Just a tad too large for me in the standover and I feel like it's too good for ME to ride anyway and I'd love to be a "collector" but don't have the space or $.

I'll most likely clean it and put it up for sale.

$275 to $300 around here, probably more in your location.

Nice one. Another one of those Columbus Tenax frames. Equipt with 600 no less. If the buyer doesn't know any better, I could say 3. I've seen similar bikes in just as good shape (or better) shape go for over 4 on e-bay(Tempo NOS). I do believe that yours being a SS & red could get 4. I feel it's worth that. 57's a good size to sell. More is plausable for the right person under the right cicumstances. If you CL it, allow for chewing-down. E-bay, set it up to end up @ 4 or so.
Nicks meen little and I wouldn't mess with 'em if I were you.

If it had the original saddle, I'd say $450ish. Without that $350ish (yes that saddle is that expensive to find now)

Everything is original and there... down to the toe straps and front wheel safety locks. The saddle has certainly only seen two butts (should i include that?)

Yup, you are correct... I guess San Marco changed the decals on their saddles every year

I would love to have that bike, EXCEPT, I think you might be wrong about the size. It looks like a 24 inch/ 61cm to me. Of course, I may be wrong, in which case I would again love to have it.

+1 Looks bigger than a 57cm. 57 cm ~ = 22.5 inches.

I am sure nomad will set the record straight, but it looks identical to my 23" SS. Nice find!

Schwinn has funky sizing compared to most other builders it seems, maybe "American way".
They use inches and it's measured from Center to Top, comes to 23 inches on this frame, so seems more like 58 on a c-c measurment. The top tube is about 21.5 or so, close to 22 so the reach fits me nice but standover is a "danger" to me.

Send me a PM.

Update:
Sold on Ebay for $510 + shipping.

A guy tried to tell me locally that Columbus Tenax was straight wall tubing. Wrong. Double butted per Schwinn specs.
Beautiful components and beautiful bike hopefully going to a nice home.

You did quite well. The nice pics you used in the auciton helped showcase the bike's wonderful condition.

Congrats.
