What's this worth? Rusty, not working Women's Schwinn Collegiate
I just need some opinions on how much this is worth, I don't know much about bikes. Someone gave it to me and now I'm trying to sell it for whatever I can get. I think its a 70s Schwinn Collegiate, yellow... The brakes don't work at all, the chain's rusty, but it seems to have all original parts and someone could at least use the frame? Any advice would be appreciated.
Ok turns out I can't upload the picture, but this might be enough info.
Bertoni Corsa Mondiale, Bridgestone T-700, Miyata 700 GT, Trek 600, Trek 560 Professional Series, Chrome Panasonic DX 2000, Peugeot PH12, Peugeot PX10, Schwinn World Voyageur, Schwinn Circuit, and Schwinn Voyageur
Without seeing the bike, I would say it is not worth much (or anything). Women's Collegiates are neither rare or distinctive. In the Detroit area, a restored women's collegiate might might go for $60-$100 on a good day. Women's bikes are less desirable than men's bikes. The cost to restore your bike would likely far exceed the value of the bike in a restored condition. If the bike is in the condition you describe, you would be fortunate to get $10. If the bike was given to me, I might take it for parts, but I wouldn't pay money for it. As Frogbutter recommended, you would be well advised to donate the bike.
