    Another Bianchi Opportunity

I'm still looking for that lightweight Bianchi.

Here are some pics of one that is for sale - owner is asking $500.00, which although it has nice 105 components and Mavic Open Pro wheels, is a bit steep. Or maybe not, help me decide. Bike is purportedly early 80s and made in Italy. Unfortunately, it has been painted.

Frame is definitely Bianchi, but can anyone (hello Bianchigirll!) tell me if it is early 80's, and what the tubing might possibly be?

Thanks! I'm considering an offer around $400.00bianchi1.jpgbianchi5.jpgbianchi3.JPGbianchi2.jpgbianchi4.jpg

it could be anything, was it repainted or the decals just pulled off? atleast I can't see any on the pics. the staycaps make me think it is a pre '86ish model but going by the catalogs it looks it looks like over or under cable routing had little rhyme or reason. some Japanese bike have either some year. same for the Italian bikes.

it could be a SL frame in crappy paint or a Strada in good factory paint and no decals.

The guy says it is a repaint. A "local bike shop" told him that it is Italian and that the frame alone is worth $500.00. BS.

Anyways, I will try to look at it next week. If it is lightweight, SL or otherwise, what do you think is a reasonable price, because I don't think $500.00 is gonna happen. It has been listed for several weeks.

That is what I would prefer. I like the set up of the bike though. It has updated 9 speed with nice wheels. That is what is making it a tough decision. I live in a hilly area and the triple is what makes the bike attractive to me.

So what do you all think a fair price would be for the bike as-is? I really like Shimano 105 and the wheels/tires are nice. Nice seatpost too. What do you think?

The lugwork on the seat cluster is very nice, but the fork crown, head lugs, and clunky bottom bracket shell indicate mid-level origins of this bike. Probably the higher side of mid-level. The over-the-bottom-bracket brazed on cable guides do indicate '80s, though.

$400 is a very fair offer.
