Reynolds 853 Lemond Zurich with 8s Shimano 600 Tricolor/STI group
Hi guys,
I recently picked up this (no pictures yet, sorry!) Lemond - I was hoping it would be a keeper but it was way bigger than I thought when I got to the sellers' place. It was still a good deal so I bought it and figured I would tune it up and sell it to fund my new project...
It's a 96 or 97, paint and components are in good/great shape. 59cm.
Wheels that it included were crappy hybrid wheels but I have a set of tricolor hubs laced to Campy rims that will probably go on this bike instead. It has a nice Rolls saddle on it too but that might stay with me or get sold separately.
So whats a 59cm 853 Lemond with Tricolor STI group in nice shape worth these days?

How tall are you?
Nice thing about threaded is that you can get a Nitto Technomics Deluxe
and simply raise the bars. That brings them back towards you.
It's a nice bike if you can adjust it to fit.

It's a 59 I ride a 52... Can sort of standover the top tube on my tip toes but even if I slam the seatpost all the way down it's not low enough for me. Looks funny too

Mine is a 97 but has had a few parts downgraded...wheelset, seapost and stem and a few upgrades...saddle and crankset.
Nobody has any thoughts on value? Are 853 frames desirable? I know the tricolor stuff has good value on its own but I would rather sell it complete.
+ - $400? I've sold 4130 and aluminum bikes with downtube shfiters for $300 but I know that even though this bike is much nicer prices seem to plateau in the $400 range.

853 frames are desirable IMO. I wanted one and found a 1999 Schwinn Peloton on paybay for cheap as it had no fork. I built it up w/ Tiagra 9 speed. It was the 59x59 size. Problem was the top tube was just too long for me and it had to go. I can ride a 60cm 80's frame but it has a top tube of about 57cm usually.
Perhaps the Lemond name will help the price for you. I am guessing it's tig welded which may have hurt the price I got since lugged would have been nicer.
8 speed tri color is tasty stuff. I was trying to sell mine around Christmas '10 which is a bad time of year to sell. It took a long time and finally went for $375.
