Restore or don't restore
I was just given a 1950s Spitfire in good original condition. The paint is faded and there is moderate rust, but everything is there and in working order with the exception of badly dry rotted tires.
I don't collect antique bikes, nor desire to do so, and plan to sell it. My question is, am I better off selling it the way it is, or restoring it first and then selling it?
Any estimates on what this bike might be worth in unrestored and restored condition?

You will never get the money it costs to restore the bike. Often such a restoration will LOWER the value, as it no longer is original. A good cleaning with a gentle soap is a good starting point. Do not use anything abrasive!! Post pictures. May not have a lot of value, but since you are starting at free, its all upside.
The Spitfire was a child's bike, and has limited value, check completed auctions on ebay, girls style went for $40, boys style $128. The nicest one went for $103, did not meet reserve.
In hot bicycle markets (San Fran, Seattle, etc.), I see them listed for more on C/L. Really not a good bike to sell on ebay.
