Do you think this is worth it?

I offered $100 for this Giant road bike and by the pictures it looks alright but I am wondering if it is worth the bike or should I hold out and try to pick up a univega or peugeot for $150. Thanks for the input!

I don't know anything about that specific bike but if it's got downtube shifters it's probably a half decent model and worth at least $100..

Not sure of the reason a Univega or Peugeot is better?

Univega never built a single bike, I have a Univega built in Taiwan by KHS (a competitor to Giant). Nice bike, no better or worse than a comparable Giant. Some Peugeots are better than Giants, some are worse.

$140 for a bike in LA is cheap, it won't last. Finding something better for $150 = looking really hard, and acting really quick. Anything decent in that price range is going to be scooped up and resold for more.

Thanks for the input! I really appreciate it. I don't know that much about bikes and I just assumed a univega or peugeot were better haha! I'm trying to get the best deal for a starter bike just so I can learn from it. And again, thanks for the input!!
