    SR semi pro touring

luck was on my side today... randomly decided to check out one of my local pawn shops... I don't usually find much good or reasonably price at pawn shops but today...

For $150 I walked out with three bikes...

First... bike in question... I'm looking for value info.

    SR Semi Pro Touring

with full shimano 600 arebesque (sp?), front and rear racks, fenders. Need full over haul but frame and components are in good shape. see pictures.

other bikes I walk out with were a single speed conversion of a centurion and a vintage specialized rockhopper. Everything needs some work but I'm good with that and should be able to make some money and still keep the SR for my self.

What kind of steel is the frame?

It reminds me of an early 1980's Lotus Classique-Eclair with all the Shimano 600 Arabesque components. I've been trying to build up a frame with those components and that crank with the chain guard isn't all that common. Either is the long-cage 600 rear derailleur. Those parts would probably go for $100.00+ on eBay, from what I have seen recently.

I like blue bikes, the Shimano 600 parts and the racks and fenders are cool. The bike to me has a certain je ne sais quoi I'd jump on it for $150.00 right now and think if I was specifically in the market looking for a bike like that I might go $300.00 if it was super-nice.

That's just my gut opinion, I really don't know the market for sure.
Always searching for Lotus literature and memorabilia for use at www.VintageLOTUSbicycles.com, can you help?

I'd guess all cleaned up / overhauled the $300 mark isn't far off. Depends on tubing, but with racks and fenders already on that seems about right.

tubing is something like... chromoly... tubing sticker was partially worn off... I'll see if I can take picture of the tubing stick and decipher it a bit better. I think it will clean up nicely and I'll probably switch out the saddle to a brooks and put new pasella touring tires on it. I'm thinking this is my new commuter bike... I just hope I like the way it rides.

Current condition, $125. Fully refurbished and shiny, $250. The lack of cantis limits its appeal to the touring bike set. Part out value is higher, the 600 bits and the racks, particularly the front rack, are nice and have good value.

There are many threads here on BF for SR bicycles. I also have a Semi Pro from SR, but it isn't a touring model. I don't ride it much right now, but it is a sweet bike. The only thing I can complain about is the lack of water bottle bosses on the seat tube.

    1980's SR thread
    SR Semi Pros? thread
    1983 SR "Racing" Pro-Am thread

    And the list goes on.
