    Pogliaghi Tandem

70s? Pogliaghi Road Tandem. The bike has been repainted, and somewhat restored. I say somewhat in that I kept most of the components that came with it, but have replaced the drive gear with Suntour Pro. Still have most of the older bits though...

    Your thoughts would be appreciated!

    Welcome to our forum!

    Beautiful bicycle.

    Is this bicycle in Minnesota?

The reason I ask is your "mnswamp" handle.

As for value, let me figure it out. Promise to get back to you pronto.

I own a Pogliaghi, and I recently sold another beautiful Pogliaghi.

Early Pogliaghi tandems are quite special, and hard to value. Sante Pogliaghi created the lugs by brazing oversized tubing and cutting the joints to use as lugs. Single bikes from early '70's seem to go for between $2K and $4K in good, original condition. One would think tandems would be worth more, but perhaps there is a limited market for them. This one is also a repaint...

BTW, I think the serial number puts this one mid to late '70s.

There was a 55/55 cm Pogliaghi tandem in original paint that languished at $2400. sold for $1500. I was really temped but did not at the time. This one looks 56 even?

It's a 56/56. When I originally acquired the bike, it had a really bad salmon pink paint job and no decals. I decided to do a 'resto-mod' and paint it to a more appropriate color, add some better shifting components, and some wider bars. I've still got most of the original bits that came with it, although the Suntour Superbe Pro shifts so much better than the old Campy ever did.
