Question - late 80's Cannondale SR500 vs 2000 Trek 1000

Ok so both have been offered to me for $300... both bikes in great shapes.... So its a tough decision.... Do i want older lighter bike but with 105's or newer, YELLOW bike with Sora's and heavier.... what would you do, and why???

i didnt ride the TREK but i think they both have Reynolds 6160 tubing so should be VERY similar ride, no????

PLEASE PLEASE help out with thoughts....... THANKS

You might want to try a little more patience than 12 hours, considering most people here are asleep during the abundance of those hours.
Frankly, I'd take the Cannondale for all of the reasons that most people here will tell you NOT to. I prefer downtube shifters set to friction mode, and I prefer freewheels over freehubs.

Modern bike, might want to try the road forum.

And you really need to post pictures.

Its your choice really, DT shifters versus STI. STI usually sells for a premium.

I would not consider late 1980s 105 to be superior to 2000 SORA. If both bikes were 2000, then sure, 105 is superior.

If the Trek was a couple of years newer, and therefore had a few of the more modern touches, I'd tell you to go with it. But as is, I'd probably go Cannondale. But buy whichever one fits you better.
