Bridgestone 300 Mixte - what to pay?
 

I came across this bike recently at a local goodwill. They have it priced at $150 so I don't think it will sell any time soon. But they are having a 1/2 price sale at the end of the month.

Being a guy, and my wife doesn't really ride, so this will be a flip bike. With a good cleaning, what is a good guess for what I can expect to resell it for?

I would not hesitate to buy it for $75. Where I live there would be a young guy that wants it for his girlfriend so they can ride together, whether she likes it or not.

I have sold a few Mixtes, either to the above mentioned guy or a girl. Girls like stem shifters. That frame color with a white saddle would be a good combo. Need to do something about the grips as it looks like a bunch of electrical tape.

In my market Bridgestone= desirable and I would list it at $225 or so if it was all clean, pretty and mechanically right on. I don't know about E. Tennessee. Perhaps someone else on BF does.

If that were a men's frame I'd be calling you crazy, because it's a lower end model worth maybe $100 in good shape. But it is a Bridgestone and it is a pink mixte, so I agree that a boyfriend would pick it up for his girlfriend. I've done the same. Still, the bike just isn't that nice. I'd expect $175 tops all cleaned up.

In my area right now you would be pushing it to get $100.00 out of it all cleaned up. All depends upon how much you value your time in fixing it all up for resell. I always figure out what my initial cost will be, how much any extras are going to cost like tires, tubes, bearings, grip tape etc. After that, I gestimate how much time it is going to take me to do the work and make my decision from all that. I have passed on many bikes just because the profit margin was not worth the time and extra money I would have to put into it.
