CV forum is the best.
So the wife wants a bike. I really really really wanted to find a nice 54 or 56cm C-dale 2.8 but this popped up on the Ebay and I'm not sure if it's worth it or not (considering complete ones go for around $500-ish, but I don't have 500-ish at the moment)

on the surface it looks OK, but I am sure a professional repainting cost more than $150 so something may be amiss. next the frame and shipping is $200 so that leave $300 to build it to be under a $500 cap. if you have parts on hand to build it it could be a decent deal but if you need to buy wheels, cranks, etc you can easily go way over $500

But "vintage" carbon is. . . somewhat more scary, or am I overly paranoid?

with glued/screwed type carbon frame you do need to be a bit careful, I am not sure I would buy one long distance.
want to drive to Knoxville and get a classicish steel ride? https://knoxville.craigslist.org/bik/2569426661.html
Selling my original RB-2... Bike is in good shape but hasn't been ridden in years. Paint is good, some chips in it. The size is a 56. Here is a link to the bike

I have enough parts (less wheels @ 130mm and a stem) to build a nice roadie. . .
