Wheeler 4100 (almost vintage...)
My garage owner has a nice red Wheeler 4100 bike laying in his garage, he's selling it and asked me to make him an offer. Anybody knows this bike? Is it any good? What would a fair price for it be?
It's 14 gears, shimano rsx, 56 cm, chrome moly elliptical tubes, nice rigida rims. needs a bit of work tho- gear tuning, new tape, and a saddle.
i know these arent old enough to be in this section of the forum but i had no luck at the road bike forum so...
thanks!

"Gear tuning" can be a bad sign, if the bike has STI shifters. RSX brifters are known for gumming up and failing prematurely. Make SURE they work before you buy.
Condition is everything when evaluating a used bike. Without pictures we can only make wild guesses. RSX was near the bottom of the line, so my wild guess is $300 or less (depending on condition.)

RSX was made for several years. If you want to know the year, find the date codes on it and look them up. Will not affect value in any way. RSX plus needs work = $150, if you can do the work yourself. If you need to pay a shop to do the work, then adjust down. Bikes that need work are best suited for buyers that can do the work, and do a careful evaluation (in person).
