Jeunet 531

I just picked up another Jeunet bike but this time it is 531 tubing...

The frame paint is a wreck but it has some other decent components

I probably will part this bike out and let someone else repaint the frame or build it up.

Has Maillard 700 pedals, normandy competition high flange hubs, can't make out what the cranks are but said something like specieliste on the dust caps.

Ideal saddle but its shot...

question what is the frame worth considering it need a repaint but its 531... no dents, there is some rust but its just on the surface in a few spots.

What are the Wheels worth once cleanup, trued, repacked... rigida rims with normandy hubs.

Not great pictures... had to rush to get back to my real job.

Nice bike I'm pretty sure the crank is a TA proffesional looks to be original except for the rims these usually had sew ups new. The white with chrome forks is a little unusual for a Jeunet 531 I don't think I have seen it before most had metalic paint and painted forks.

+1. The forks look like the stock forks on the 620, which is regularly mistaken for a 531 bike and is not. Other details don't look 620ish, like the lugs and cable runs. Hence the post size question. I don't think the forks are 531; the rest of the bike could be. Seat post determines at least that.

TA Pro 5 crankset in conjunction with the Simplex piston front derailleur and top tube cable clips indicate a model 630 as the most likely candidate. As stated, the original tubulars have been replaced with 27" wired-on rims and tires as indicates by the Schraeder valves and pads being positioned at the top of the and justment slots. It's hard to say about the forks. Some did come OEM full chrome.

The frame should bring $100-$200, as is, depending on the seller's market conditions.

Wheels may not be worth much, as they are 27". It will all depend on the condition and threading of the hubs. If the hubs have French threading, the value drops drastically, as replacement freewheels are hard to find.

As far as I can tell from the several 630's and 620's I have seen including my own 620 rider the 620's and 630's have basicaly the same simplex fork chromed it is just half painted over on most 630's and left all chrome on most 620's. The TA crank and smooth lugs makes it a 630 little chance its not mostly original.

There is a 531 sticker so I'm pretty sure its a 630... the fork does not say anything about the steel its made of. I'm guessing the simplex stuff is original, cranks, maybe pedals, stem, seat post, saddle, bars... not original wheels, brakes, and levers. Did have my calipers at my storage unit so I couldn't measure the seat post.

its too bad the paint is so rough... I've got some other 531 frame ahead in the bike building que... so I'll have to think long and hard about either refurbishing this bike or parting it out and passing it on to another.

For a 70's Jeunet the original paint is better than average.
