I'm not familiar with Italvega and there's not enough info in that ad for me to help you, but did you see the link I posted in your other thread? It was an edit. Here: https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/bik/2829884455.html A good buy IMO.

Italvega was the predecessor to Univega I believe (or they had some other relations...). They made some nice bikes and that one appears to be in top shape, but doesn't appear to be a higher end model. A bit overpriced I think. However, SF is a pretty high priced market in general so finding a good deal might be tough.

The Specialized linked above does look like a decent deal.

Do you know what size you need?
What do you want the bike to do? Is it for exercise, commuting, touring, charity ride...etc.

Edit: just read your other post. At 5'11" you're probably looking for something around 56-58cm depending on proportions, fitness, preference...etc.

Guys, I'm so grateful for your help. @Jake, that one is at a location which is too far for me. Thank you so much for finding it though.
@4Rings, Thank you for the giving an insight. I'll talk to that guy tomorrow for the bike ))

BTW, What about this one:

Is this too big for me??

Thanks again.

Bikes: Was Fuji and got my grails (Pro, Pro SR, Design Series, & Ti). Now I hunt 50's and older road bikes.

$300 varsity! You can do sooo much better. The Italvega would be the better of the two and I know virtually nothing about them.

Good deals in a hot market in this price range do not last long enough to answer "Is this a good deal?" If it is still available, then it very likely is not a good deal. Google is your friend, zero in on your size first, read some articles, there's lots of opinions on sizing. And you need to take some measurements to get it right.

In any financial transaction: real estate, cars, musical instruments, and even bicycles, the person with the most knowledge wins. Be that person.

Without some basic research you are likely to pay too much, and get a bike that is the wrong size (I've done it myself).
