Gardin bike value/ worth rebuilding?

I have another bike I need some help on value. This one I liked since the day I found it since it was the right size and right color. I always wanted a pink bike. Don't ask why, I wouldn't know what to tell!
So this Gardin I've found ready to be crushed. Yep! Another rescue story. No one is left unwanted in my house. The frame is light weight. I can't tell what the metal is but my guess is alloy but maybe not all the tubes. Really I'm not sure. It's 61cm, campy front derailleur, modolo brake levers and rear side pull brake, Dura Ace rear derailleur, Profile areo bars, sugino chain ring and HG narrow chain.
I'd like to know if it would be worth it to rebuild this bike and ride it. Seem like it would be fun.
Now the pictures, there's a lot!

I have owned several Gardin bicycles, over the years. Some, like this drop dead gorgeous 1983 Gardin Special, were very well made and rode very well.

However, Gardin, their predecessor being Cambio Rino, bicycles were known for wide quality swings. Some were great and some were not. A quick look at the pictures and this one looks like it does not fit into the great category.

That does not mean that the bicycle is not a worthy project and ride, once built. On the contrary, I have never owned a mid level to high end Gardin that I did not like.

The low end ones, however, are another story...

Thanks for your reply. It's quite interesting as I had never heard of Gardin before I found that bike.
Anyone else?

Does that have Campi dropouts? Not that those alone would ensure a quality build. I think if I had it I may build it from parts on hand, but those bars have to go!

I would start by taking all the stuff off a good cleaning and overhaul the HS and BB and see whats what. Once you have the frame cleaned you can either build it or sell it for a few dollars.

Thanks! I think I'm going to rebuilt it no matter what. I'm use to ride cheap bikes so this one will probably feel much better than anything I know.

The bike seems like a good find and you have some good parts to work with. The modolo brakes are a different story. They were expensive but the brake rubber (assuming that this is original) was so-so at best. So you try them out but if they don't work out, try changing the brake rubber.

I still don't understand why bikes like that end up in a salvage or junk yard or tha dumps. the person who threw it out must not know anything about bikes.....The DA stuff alone should give that person some pause about just dumping the bike, unless it was done to get back at someone....possibly an ex-spouse, boy or girl friend maybe??
Please save the Gardin, it does not look hopeless..yet and should build up to a nice Italian racer.

If the frame is not bent or compromised then yeah it's definitely worth rebuilding! If nothing else the parts are worth quite a bit on their own.

This looks like a project definetly worthy of someones time and effort. You may not get your money back out of it you intend to sell it at some point. But as personal rider since you seem to like the bike you should get some good return on your efforts when it comes to ride quality. I for one am a big fan of lesser branded high quality bikes as builders it's nice to have a one of a kind bike when you get done. Anyone can through high end stuff on a really nice well known frame it takes a little more imagination to see the potemtial in a bike like this.
