Mid-1980s Shogun 300 Mixte - NOS
Seller asking $230 for a mid-1980s Shogun 300 mixte, small-to-average-size, NOS never been out of the box. Bolted axle wheels, no quick release, Tange 900 Cr-Mo double-butted frame, alloy wheels, entry-level Shimano derailleurs and brakes, stem-mounted shift levers. Saddle and pedals missing, includes inexpensive replacements. Appropriate price?

$230 is nutz IMHO, unless, of course, you've always wanted a Shogun Mixte. Mixtes are a pretty slow sell in my market, even higher quality ones, despite how active this area is. I sold a pristine and freshly tuned 1978 Raleigh Grand Prix for $120 and was glad to get it. I never got a buyer for a mint Araya 4130 mixte frame even though it was priced to move. Especially given the low quality components and wheels, I'd give it a pass.

If you are looking to flip it , how much would you gain by selling it? If it is something you are keeping, I would give close to that. Tange 900 has a great feel to it, and it's in perfect condition. I would be pulling in his driveway right now.

around here mixtes are very attractive. not sure that that's a flippable price but (assuming it truly is a mixte and not just a step through) that's probably a price he's going to get.

To me NOS is always extra cool. If you really want it, I don't think that's an completely unreasonable price. High but not insane. If you are planning to flip the bike, no way.
Keep in mind that a ~30 year old NOS bike will need to have all the bearings re-greased before you ride it a mile or you'll almost certainly destroy them.
