Old Jeunet Franche Comte 10-speed
Picked it up from a bike junk pile at yellow bike in Austin TX for $50. I wasn't looking for anything in particular, just whatever looked like it had the most parts and this is what I dug out.
The frame has some surface rust but seems very structurally sound. It also appears to have all the original decals.
-Mafac "Racer" brakes
-Juy Simplex Frame (?)
-Shimano Tourney Derailleur
-Handlebars and wheels are both Schwinn
I'm guessing this bike is from the 1970's? And I've never heard of Jeunet, and google / wikipedia don't bring up much.
Anyone know some info on this old frenchie?

Hello HiOnVikes -
Welcome to C&V -( I think you typed a V instead of a B in your nickname...)
Anyway , here is an old thread with some info...
I suspect your frame has "Simplex" on the drop-out?
Mafac Racers are great brakes.
Your bike could even be one of the better offerings from Jeanet - but with some low end bolt-ons. The Tourney DR and obviosly the Schwinn parts are un-original.
Let's see some pics !

I can't recall the model designations off hand, but Classics Rendevous has some catalog scans.
Do not be fooled by the half-chromed rear stays if yours has them; although it's not pictured as such in the cats IIRC (edit: I don't, the cats have the half chrome stays. However, the fork is only half chrome, but I've never seen one of these w/o a fully chromed fork), the low end bike had them, just like the higher end ones.
Obviously, yours has some switched over parts. Original bars would have been badged Jeunet, rear derailleur Simplex.
Post some photos for further help.
More stuff here. Base model was the "620".

I recently bought a Jeunet Franche Compte model 630 from another BF member. As a matter of fact, Fedex is scheduled to deliver it today, my 30th! Here's a pic of the bike in question as built up with original parts. Here's a link to the Jeunet page at Classic Rendezvous.
Enjoy your bike! Post pics!

1971 Juenet bike
I bought a Juenet bicycle in 1971 and have ridden it for 40 years. My son (mid 20s) wants it now and I'll give it to him. It's been a great bike.
