Value on a 197X Raleigh International?

All original, 8/10 paint, needs some new tires and cleaning up but otherwise in good shape.

What would a fair price be to offer for a mid-70's Raleigh International in this condition? (I'd be offering, not selling)

Many things impact the value of a bicycle, including location, time of year, size of the bicycle and, certainly condition. Considering all of that, it would be impossible to offer any kind of appraisal.

I suggest that you submit some decent pictures, if you can, and list the components fitted to the bicycle. Also, ensure that you tell us how big the bicycle is and where you are located.

You can develop a better understanding of how to appraise Vintage Bicycle Value by applying some of the information contained in that article. Hope it is a help.

Thanks for he reply Randy. I do understand there are many, many factors involved in setting the price of a bike. I was just looking for a ballpark figure. I don't have any pictures, it was just offered to me during a conversation with a roundabout price of $500 thrown out there and I just wanted to know if these bikes generally go for $200, $500, $700 or more. I'll see if I can some more info, components, year, to narrow the scope a bit.

If it is in good shape, has the original components (including Brooks saddle) and most importantly--it's your size, then the $500 range sounds fair. Mint shape and in a desirable size and color, could go closer to $1000. Bad paint, non-original parts and a really large frame size...maybe more like $200-400.

Again, these are just ballpark. Everything Randy said is true.

Appreciate the estimates. $500-ish seems about in the right ballpark. Thanks.

$500 is just a dart in the middle of the $200-1000 range.
It matters what year it is in the '70s, and then the condition, the condition and the condition.
1973 is usually the worst in terms of workmanship. They couldn't shove them out the door fast enough during the peak of the bike boom. Sometimes the seatstays pop off of the seat cluster! Or a lug will have almost zero braze material in it, just paint! And the chrome on the fork frequently falls off. That said, I like Internationals, and some of them are stunning. Mostly the earliest ones, but some later ones as well. You really have to see and inspect the bike in question. Some, I wouldn't give $200 for. Some, I'd gladly pay $1000 for. They are literally all over the map.
