    Takara 12 speed

Found this listing on my local CL - http://athensga.craigslist.org/bik/2909298750.html

It is along the lines of the older model bikes that I am looking for to use as a commuter around town, and should be my size as well. Just wanted to see if anyone could lend any more info about the bike - quality of takaras, what year it might be, its value, should I even consider going to take a look at it, etc? Ha really any information at all - thanks!

Looks like a OK basic bike but nothing special. $175 might be a bit much though

Yeah I definitely think that is too high of an asking price

Adapter claw RD, suicide brake levers, this is a lower end basic bike. $175 is too much. Maybe $100 if it's in good shape and ready to ride.
Why "derailer" is the correct way to spell the gear-change mechanism: sheldonbrown.com/derailer.html
