Hey guys,
Can anyone tell me what this bike is and what's a good price for it? From what I can gather, it's either a repainted/hacked up low end bike or an awesome bike that I will love forever. Please guide me.
Thanks,
-Vince

edit:nevermind, just saw the unparallel head and seat tubes. feel free to comment on what bike it is anyway!

I don't see anything wrong with the head and seat tubes. They are not necessarily supposed to be parallel.

Where's the ad? Better to see the price and say if it's reasonable from the description given, location etc. Depending on components and condition, frame material etc could be $50 or $250.

First glance it needs bar tape and brake hoods so not a good sign of overall condition in my book.

All that shows is wear and those are expendable items. That wouldn't scare me away at all.

Could be anywhere in that range, though, or right in the middle ($150).

I thought non-parallel tubes meant damage? Anybody know what model this is?

The less steep seat tube angle reflects a touring frame. It's a more leisurely (read comfortable) riding gate compared to racing speed pedaling. Also promotes less muscle fatigue for distance riding. Enjoy!

$120? Should be long, long, gone. If not, grab it fast.

Exactly. Even though... if you look at the bike and decide to make an offer, try offering $100, citing the poor condition of hoods and handlebar tape (if they don't budge, buy it anyway).

Haha well I'm trying to get info on the model and stuff about the bike from the seller right now, but I think I'll probably go for it anyway. Does it look repainted to anyone? Lets hope its like a nishiki professional with decals ripped off or something x.x At $120, I can't really go wrong here right? It IS my first bike afterall.
Thanks for all the help!
-Vince

edit: seems the frame HAS been repainted. I think only the white and blue nishiki part is original. Anybody know what model had that scheme?

First tip on getting a deal, don't pepper the seller with questions. Instead, go in person, cash in hand, and look at it. Sellers respond to the easiest deal first. I know when I get multiple responses to an ad, I don't reply in the order I get emails. Instead, I look for the buyer that is ready to go, contact them first. Usually, they buy it, while the person seeking more details/better pics/whats the lowest I will take/etc., never gets a reply.

And when I am looking to buy, I keep my emails short, something like: "your bike looks great. When is a convenient time for me to come buy it. I am available now. Here's my phone number xxx-xxxx". I have had several sellers tell me they moved me to the front of the line on deals, as it was clear I was ready to buy.

I was wondering about a repaint. That decal work does not look familiar to me. At the same time, at this low price point, it really doesn't matter. Ditto model, it does not matter.

Thanks for the tip, I'll be heading out tonight probably to check it out. It's a mystery model, so I'll be flying blind with the component group. Maybe I'll luck out and they'll be 105's or something Well thanks for the push guys

$120 for the Nishiks is a good price for Calafornia in peak season. It won't last long at this price if your size and there is nothing major wrong with consider buying it. It's hard tell from the pics but it appears to have a nicer Shimano componet group propbably 600 or 105 both very nice for the price.
