I'd really like an 80-90's midrange Bianchi - what should I look for and how much?

Still learning
A good mid range road bike from that era with a desirable tubeset runs anywhere from $250-$400, with above average cosmetics and in ready to ride condition.
A Bianchi sells for a premium, a celeste Bianchi sells for an even greater premium. I would say be prepared to spend $350-$500, up to $600 with a Campagnolo drivetrain.

I would say the correct size and style for what you want, Bianchi made a wide range of mid level road bikes, sports recreational, touring and racing should be the first things to look for. Understand you will pay a $200 or so premium over similar road bikes so expect to pay $500-600 for a nice Italian one with a better tube set and components. The good news is there where a lot of them made somewhere close to a million during the 80's and 90's and it seems about half of them are for sale so don't be afraid to pass on one that isn't quit right or not a great price another one will come a long shortly.

Like Thrifty Bill says, you need to know your size of course and then your market may be big enough to find one, maybe not. Where I live I can go today and find a Celeste Bianchi in my size but it's a VERY large area. There are even 2 Rose colored Bianchi's locally and everything in between in frame color, size and component groups. If I was to pick one it would be this:

I sold one of those a few years back and kind of regret it. The one in the ad does not have a complete Campagnolo group, most likely Ofmega crank and hubs since the seller does not say "all Campy".
You can try this" Dailylister - Search Craigslist, Oodle, Kijiji, eBayClassifieds and others nationwide. Find: celeste bianchi
Maybe find one far away and get the seller to ship or find a facilitator to help out and look at ebay. Agreed with prices mentioned. Good luck. I think I have had a few go through my hands. If you are real lucky maybe find a Reparto Corse with EL-OS tubing. It was too small for me...
