KHS, Champion 5 tubeset, 23", what's it worth
I have a gentleman who has a KHS brand 10 speed bike. 23" size. Champion #5 Straight Gauge tubeset. Suntour VX derailleurs. Araya single wall, Shimano hub, 27" wheels.
It has been setting around for years. Brake missing some acorn nuts. Grips, tape, cables, tires, tubes, all shot. How much should I offer him in a not very road bike friendly city? Where these available at Sears? Thanks in advance.

$25 based on your description, $50 max. Tange had many grades of cromoly tubing. #5 was the worst grade.
I do not think Sears ever sold them. KHS is a good solid brand, usually made in Taiwan.
This bike sounds like a real project. While I love picking up project bikes, unless you have the time/tools/aptitude/pile of parts, I would pass. If you have to pay a bike shop to rehab it, you will be upside down when you are done.

Please don't confuse ebay "asking" prices with "selling" prices. Many sellers never get their ask price. some are far from it. Value is determined once an item actually SELLS. Its easy enough to check SOLD prices.
