Worth of a Women's Shogun Mixte Touring Bicycle?
I am going to check it out on Sunday,
https://images.craigslist.org/5Ea5K15...553ca01f1d.jpg
A Shogun Mixte touring bike with shimano gears and brakes and a mileage indicator.
I think it's very pretty and almost exactly what I've been looking for, but I'd like a little advice.
How much is it worth, and could people tell me about the quality?
I've tried to do some research I believe it's a 1985 model, and I THINK it is a pretty good deal for $100.

On the ad it's priced for $100, I'm not quite sure where you got the $150 from. Are there any other bikes you could recommend me? I unfortunately don't have the highest budget but I could probably stretch for $175. Thank you for the input though, I asked the owner and he said no tuneup or new tires were needed.

I usually mention bikes are overpriced. Not this one, a nice mixte for $100? Deal.
As far as owner's comments, sorry, those are worthless. Your personal inspection will tell you whether bike needs tires or a tune up. Most vintage bikes need both. Tires don't look too bad in the pic, but in person inspection will tell so much more.
Have I bought similar mixtes for less? Sure, but I look all the time, and pretty much everything I pick up needs work, often a lot of work.
$175 is a really, really, limited budget to get anything decent. Even if you find a bike like this one for $100, expect to have to put some money into it. Access to a bike co-op is a must, as having a shop do the work will quickly go through the rest of your budget.
Again, $100 is a DEAL IMHO. If it was in my area, I would be tempted to buy it myself.

Yes, I am aware I will probably end up replacing the tires and such anyway, and I'm fine with the money that will be put into it, and I know that 175 is a very small amount of money. I'm rather new to the world of bikes so I am shaky as to which ones are good quality and which are not. Would this mixte last me a long time? How reliable/sturdy/light/etc. is it compared to other mixtes? Is there anything in particular I should be looking for when I go see it?
Thank you everyone for the help!

At 100 that is an okay deal. As WRK says, don't trust a seller's comments-- go look at the darn thing.

The high end ones command big money prices: $400, $500, sometimes even more. And are extremely rare.
First two things to check: stuck seat post and stuck stem. Need to do some online work to become educated on inspecting bikes, far too much to type into one thread. By keeping the price relatively low ($100), you are reducing the risk quite a bit. Go to Randy Jawa's "my ten speed" website to learn more.
In general, a good to great deal in the $100 price range is not going to last long, around here, 15 to 30 minutes. I am surprised this one is still available.

I found out it is a Shogun Mixte 500, not sure if that changes its value at all? Assuming they are both in great condition, should I pay less for the shogun or pay $225 for a Georgena Terry Prism? I have been reading the website you recommended and I believe the prism falls under the category of a simply "old" rather than vintage bike so it may be a bit beyond what this thread is focused on. I know I'll probably end up being the laughingstock of the forum, but I don't know where else I can get an honest opinion! I am definitely doing my best researching online, even though a lot of the lingo is a bit beyond me.

I'd buy both, barring major problems. Both are decent deals and could be resold w/o much issue or loss. They'll ride quite different, and you would likely prefer one over the other. If both are rideable, go ahead.
