Eddy Merckx Funny Bike
Hallo, Just acquired this thing. Had some stupid risers on it so I threw on some pursuit bars (Nitto RB002's) and overhauled the whole thing. I'm just curious on what to expect for it because of the small audience who have the niche for these things.
Mixed DA components. Has nice aero tubing and squared seat stays
Oh. And I've learned to hate tressostar. I ABSOLUTELY HATE THAT STUFF. I just wanted to scream while using it and just light it on fire.
56cm Merckx Pursuit (Still have contact Cadre with the odd S/N for the year but I've heard from the previous owner that it's an 85)
DA 7400 Headset
DA 7100 Crankset
DA 74xx Single Pivot Brakes
DA 7401 R/D
DA 740x F/D
Nitto Stem [?]
Nitto RB-002 Handlebars
Aero Seatpost [?]
San Marco Techno Dynamica
Shimano AX Aero Water Bottle
7spd 7400 / Mavic MA40 Red Label
650c Bontrager Select (such a downer but it's clincher so I'm happy
Can anybody ID the tubing?

Nice looking bike. These are funny to price (no pun intended) because they are usually really nice machines but have limited use and you say limited audience. I would have to say between $700-800 but you need to be willing to facilitate shipping, either packing it yourself or takingit to a shop to have it packed.

Most of them that I have seen were Columbus SL tubing. There was a Merckx TT frameset, like yours, with wheels and a few bits that sold on eBay a few month back for right around $300. A local here has a frameset for sale asking $450 and has been available for quite a while...no takers at that price. I like them, but they do have very limited appeal, and can be hard to sell. Theyre very purpose built, so not exactly the greatest ride for just fooling around. They do have great WOW factor though when you show up on one !
Im sure others here can comment on the value of the DA stuff....and unless you find that one right buyer, I agree it will likely be easier to part out, and get you the most $$
Cheers
