Colnago for 300 euros.... worth it or not? (photo included)
campagnolo mirage/véloce, fork time, Frame colnago colombus.
I know Colnago is a good brand but are all Colnago frame born equal?
Not sure if this is a great deal or a not so good one.
Need help.
Thanks

When a bike has had a fork exchanged, one always wants to know with certainty that the frame has not been crashed.
If you can inspect the bike in person, it may be a value, the off drive side image suggests the seller does not understand bicycles.

I don't like the irregularity of the light reflection off the front half of the top tube. Could be an optical illusion; could be paint scheme; could be a compressed radius, i.e.., slight dent. Ask about that when you ask about the fork replacement.

ditto... looks like a compression or dent to me, right at the violet-colored spot, just before the "C" in Colnago.

It might be an OK deal if it checks out, but it's a relatively less valuable campi gruppo...so it's likely not the steal of the century. It very well might be a solid buy and good value, IF it's in decent shape.

The paint scheme looks like a Master series bike, like a Master Light maybe, which would put it at the high end. But IMHO, any Colnago in nice shape like this one appears to be (but check out the fork situation), with a modern Campy gruppo is certainly worth 300 Euro...
Better pics would be helpful though...

It sounds like a pretty good deal if it's in good condition.

I'll go see the bike in person tomorrow to get more info on it. I'll also ask the appropriate questions as suggested.
Thanks for the quick reply!

Don't expect the truth! I would ask if the original fork is around, as advise you are not really keen on carbon... (even if you are fine with it) I would let the bike tell me if any trauma is visible.

Okay, so I saw the bike today. The frame is in great shape. No cracks, nothing bent. Unfortunately, the guy doesn't have the original fork any longer.
The frame is steel, Columbus, and the only thing written on it apart from Colnago is Competition.
Amazing buy or not worth my time?

IMO, I would jump on that. It's not easy to find a nice Colnago of any type for that price and this seems to be Master Competition series, so it is a great bike.
Just asking, and not that he would likely tell you the truth, but was there a story behind the fork replacement?

Well he said that the Time fork was the original... Haha, I guess that's just the way it came when he bought it or he is not telling the truth... I suppose we'll never know.
