1993 Geoffrey Butler (UK) Reynolds 531 Road Bike
Bought this after seeing a sign on the side of the road advertising it in my village (rural England..). Not much idea of it's value, perhaps some of you could enlighten me?
58cm Reynolds 531 frame and forks by Geoffrey Butler of Croydon, London. To the best of my knowledge this was a one off custom made frame.
Campagnolo Yypsilon Strada rims on 105 hubs.
Cinelli Bars, seat post and quill stem.
105 downtube shifters and Deore DX front and Deore LX rear derailleurs.
Deore DX crankset (triple) and 105 cassette.
105 brakes and levers.
Vetta Turbo saddle.
All of the above parts are original (ie 1993), only things I had to change now include a pair of Continetal Grand Prix tyres and new bar tape.
I'm not really sure whether or not I paid over the odds, but it would be good to get some reassurance.
Many Thanks, Jack.

Deore parts seem a little odd, is this a touring bike or something? If you can post some pictures we can help with value. Without photos it's impossible to judge condition and value.

I agree with the Deore being a little odd, I believe the chap I bought it off had it custom made for him and he chose the parts. It isn't a touring bike, it is certainly a road bike, but it is rather unusual. I'll try to see if these photos upload. The close ups show it last summer with the old tyres and tape. I tried to find photos with the drive train in, unfortunately all of them appear to have been taken from the left of the bike.. Apologies for that.

Hello Jack welcome to the forums.
I don't think the Deore is that odd, back in those days, early '90s, if you wanted an indexing "Racing Triple" {CopyRight pending by CampI I am sure** Deore was a good way to go. IIRC the FD could handle a 52ish big ring and somthing like a 28 small ring and the long cage RD gave you lots of wrap.
Nice looking bike

That's a beauty of a frame, and I'd say the frame set alone is worth at least 400. Contrary to what you might read, Geoffrey and Claude Butler were brothers. The Geoffrey Butler frames were contracted out, and many were built by Cliff Shrubb, who its a respected builder who I believe is still building today under his own name.
I had a Butler like yours, but it was too small for me. Nuts!
Enjoy!

Really great looking bike, and an excellent triple group on there IMO. It's a mid-level group that probably wouldn't get much respect if you tried to sell it, but in reality there are a lot of cyclists that would really benefit from a setup like this whether they are willing to admit it or not.
Because you're in the UK and I have never heard of Geoffrey Butler, and given the unique component setup I doubt I could make a reasonable estimate in value so I probably should not try.
