So, do you have a picture of said bicycle?

Doubt it's worth putting any money or time into.

The Univeaga Activa Country was an entry level hybrid. The ones I've seen were equippred with low end SunTour. Samples in good rideable condition in an average market would probably fetch $75-$100.

+1 Given what is missing on this bike, and the fact its an entry level hybrid, its really not worth your time.

Some bikes, even if you get them free, are financially not worth rehabbing. I usually either donate these bikes to the local co-op, or I strip of usable parts, and then donate just the frame. Find out what your co-op can use, and support them. I have found a lot of free bikes over the years, that I never even unloaded out of my car. They went straight to the co-op or my favorite thrift store.

Your other choice is to find a second donor bike, strip the fork and shifters, and rebuild your Univega. Still not worth the time and money.

It takes the same amount of time and money to rehab a bike with minimal market value, as it does to rehab a bike with good market value. The choice of projects to work on is critical to the financial return.

Do enough projects that do not make sense financially, and you will run out of money, and that will be the end of projects. On the other hand, if you do projects that make sense financially, the process will be self funding, you will be able to reinvest in some better tools, upgrade your own personal bike(s), develop a life long skill, and even have enough left over to make a few mistakes along the way.

Why worry about making money? Making money is what makes the process sustainable. Its just as much fun to fix up a bike that will make you money as a bike that will not make you money. Don't make money, and the hobby fizzles out.

Its a good early start at learning entrepreneurial skill, which will be worth more to you in your life than learning how to rehab bikes.
