Kestrel 200sc full 7400
So, I about to move and I REALLY need to be thinning out the herd, but I've been offered a bike from my friend at the lbs. It's an older Kestrel 200 sc which is in pretty good shape. The bike has full 7400 dura ace down to the pedals. Fresh cables and bartape. The wheels are dura ace hubs laced to mavic gp4 tubulars. The tires appear to be in good rideable shape, and they even come with a spare tire. He's also going to thrown in a clincher wheelset he got with the bike. Mavic rims laced to Sante hubs.
I feel like he's giving me a really good deal, but I really really don't need another bike. lol And to be honest I'll likely ride it for a short time and then harvest the parts from the frameset. I tend to break frames and vintage carbon makes me uneasy. haha
So I guess, what I really need to know is, at what pricepoint am I an idiot not to buy the bike from him?
ohhh and those ridiculous bars are coming off in exchange for something better suited to the bike lol

I was gonna say, looks like half the bike is handlebar! Thank god you're planning on changing them out if you get the bike.
Otherwise I see a very solid package there oozing in quality!
If everything's in very good condition, I wouldn't hesitate to pay maybe 600/650 bucks for it (maybe quite a bit more if its all in mint condition and/or if it had more unusual/exotic components. DA7400 is great stuff but it just seems to be on so many 80's C&V bikes). The bars definitely pull down the value of the bike to most except maybe someone looking for exactly that bar setup, as most will be thinking of changing them out to a more conventional drop bar setup.
Top of the line C&V CF bikes just don't pull in as much money as top of the line Steel C&V bikes (yet?) because of the pervading thinking that they might asplode on an owner when ridden..... Too bad for them as they are really missing out on great riding C&V bikes,.......and good for us C&V CF bike fans

value is in the parts and wheels. What is the asking price. I was looking the same bike different color at a pawn shop the other day but component group was nothing to speak of. They were asking $300
