Centurion Sport Dlx
I picked up this Centurion Sport Dlx for very (VERY) little money this afternoon.
I am guessing that it is a late eighties model. It has a curious mix of components: Dia Compe Brakes, Shimano SIS shifters, Sugino Cranks & Weinmann rims. I haven't figured out the brand of hubs from the very few markings. The tubing sticker says; "Tange Infinity CroMo Tapered Double Butted Tubing".
Does anyone recognize the year from the yellow and white paint job? Is there a resource or component list for the centurions of that vintage? This looks like a step up from the previous Sport Dlx's of the early to mid '80s. No stem shifters and no turkey wing brake levers. Any info you might have on the bike would be appreciated.
I am thinking about rebuilding it as a bike path beater that will save a bit of wear and tear on my regular road bikes on some of the rough bike paths around the city. The handlebars, stem, seat & pedals are going to be replaced right off.

That was my first thought.
I think '88/89ish is about right for the year, checking the date code on the cranks and brakes would be the best way to tell for sure. Not a bad bike once you ditch those bars. What are the components? Exage Sport or something like that? Any other pics?

I was wondering about the fork myself. Looking down from on top it looks like it may be bent a small fraction of an inch. I will have to check when I strip the frame. I have access to a press brake at work so fixing it will be no problem.
I can't get any more pictures till this weekend, but I will try to post some closeups then. How do you interpret the date codes on the brakes and cranks?
