Hi,

I have ended up with a relatives Litespeed Titanium road bike. I don't ride, so I am wondering what it is worth as I am sure I will be putting it up for sale. I'm in southern California. Any help or info would be appreciated. Here's what I know and some pics.

Frame is 55CM
Frame is stamped 22815
Campagnolo Chorus brakes, sprocket (53/39), gears (10 speed), derailer, and wheels (700mm)
Forte seat and handle bars.
Fork looks carbon fiber to me
spare Campy wheels with 8 speed gear set.
second spare 8 speed gear set, pedals etc.
it is very clean, no scratches, good stickers

800-1000, although you will have to try ebay for that much. Local sale likely much less.

To find out if fork is carbon, lightly tap it with your knukle. If it has a dull, wooden sound then it's carbon.
Nice bike and parts. i would say 1200, but that stem setup is just pure ugliness..

i sold a litespeed with shimano 105 components a few years ago for $800. i think that one would go a little higher. ebay would be your best bet though.

This bike looks to be in great shape in a higher market in a more popular size. And the Chorus 10 speed group helps as well. I'm going to guess more in the $1200-1500 range or maybe even a bit higher. I do agree that you probably would have to put it on eBay to get that kind of money. The fork seems to be Look carbon if I'm not mistaken. It obviously was ridden by someone who had to make adjustments to make it work, hense the long seatpost and funny looking stem. It would help to switch it out and lower the post.

I RARELY see titanium bikes sell for less than a grand.

Looks super clean, as mentioned, needs some help as far as looking right (lower seat, change stem (you can get a normal one for $10), remove pedals, remove saddlebag)

Ebay in the only place to sell this type of bike. Sell the extra wheelset , gears, and pedals separately.

If you really want to max your cash, partout the whole bike. You could easily top $1200.

Yeah, I was looking for a pre-2000 litespeed for awhile, and the generally rule seems to be about $1,000 +/- 300 depending on components and overall condition.

This is correct information.

The Chorus gruppo fetches $400+ for starters.

Wheelset is another $250-$300 and if the second "gearset" means another Chorus 8 speed gruppo plus wheelset, another $500.

Frameset is another $700 in value.

Plus a few additional $$$ for the remaining bits.

The issue here will be the op.

Do they have the know how to market these pieces to realize these values?

Probably doesn't have all the needed tools either if a non-rider.

Put it on Craigslist for $1200 and take $1000. If it doesn't sell after a week re-list for $1000 and take $800.

You'd drop your price $400 on a free listing service after only 2 weeks? Why not just tape four $100 bills to it and list it for $800? You'd get the same result in half the time.

That's a 1997 LS Catalyst, with LS (Look) carbon fork.

It was a bottom-of-the-range LS frame, only Natchez was cheaper, and made only in 97.

Math is obviously not Thinktubes strength. The OP would only net $400 under TT's scenario.

+1,000,000 Nothing on ebay is easy or automatic. You need to be a seasoned ebay marketing pro to get full value there.

Local C/L depends on your market. Around here, higher end stuff tends to go for about HALF of ebay value. Great for buyers, sucks for sellers. Hopefully your market is better.

Either way, I agree that dropping the price that quick is foolish unless you're really desperate for cash.

The Orange County Goodwill keeps coughing up unbelievably nice bikes for auction. So I would think the OP would find it fairly easy to find a buyer for the bike. I would seperately sell the 8 speed group.
