So then the general consensus is that since it's an '84 w/ ARX components it isn't a significant upgrade from my DX-3000?

Did you read my earlier post about the frame and component differences? The Fuji won't be a huge upgrade, but I would buy it due to the rarity of the bike if for nothing else. Believe me if I lived there it would be already gone. Keep in mind that Fuji is a tall bike made for someone with at least a 34" inseam (not pants measurement, but by jamming a book against your crotch with your feet a foot apart then measure from the top of the level book to the floor).

From what little I can see of the drive train and components it appears the owner keeps this bike in an excellent state of presentation compared to most bikes I find on CL. He ought to get some kudos for that. Take a look at that crank and chain. It glistens. This guy took care of this bike. The tires look new. Paint is in decent shape.
If it is clean as it appears and he also has maintained it in great running shape I would consider it a fair price. If you found one in a degraded state and it needed components replaced, tires/tubes, chain, brake pads, etc, how much time and money will you be out?

Looks like seller has it up for sale again 1 year later. Definitely looks like a 64cm to me (vs 61). Wonder if 250 is reasonable now due to size but does look mint. This bike is very interesting to me b/c of the "special edition" label does make it different than many other clubs. 1984 would have been 85th anniversary of company? cannot think of any other special reason.
I have a 1985 club and find it a great rider along with a 1984 team. One reason I am dregging up this old thread is b/c same model special has been floating around ebay lately which led me to this thread a few weeks ago. It needs an overhaul based in few fuzzy pics but does look like a 61cm. Seller dropped steadily from 450 to recent 250 or make offer. Well a fuji joneser I know (friend of course) did so and look foward to updating all things fuji in a few weeks once it arrives and is overhauled.

Lol, just found this thread researching this CL post: FUJI ROAD BIKE
Same bike? I agree, $350 seems too much. Guess he can sit on it longer. Sad, seems like the tires may develop dry rot before it grts ridden again!

Picked up another one of these off ebay last month (61cm), best offer @ 175 was accepted. Very similar on oem build as one for 325 but that one does look very clean. I have ridden the club se for about 100 miles or so, very solid and reliable rider. A tad heavy, definitely more than my 58 cm team or club and heavier than my 60cm treks. The frame is a 61 and seems to run large. The arx is stiffer shifting and all friction, but can be dialed right in and is smooth. other components all in great shape. Currently running with wright saddle and spd shimano pedals.

Hello spring! Snow is melting and time to trade the xc skis for bikes. Have been spring cleaning/tuning the fleet and have decided to sell a few at this years bike swap. This club fuji special edition is part of those to be sold. Overall in good shape, if not for a few scratches I would say great shape. Except for wrap, hoods and tires, everything else seems original. I totally overhauled it and rode it a 100 miles or so last season and it is a good rider. Most interesting thing I have noticed is the logo is a decal, every other fuji from the timeframe used rivets badges best I can tell (but no fuji expert).
So not many of these around for comps, the one in this thread definitely languished. There was another 24in that sold earlier this month on ebay for 350 (free ship). Was surprised to see it sell for that compared to other clubs. This one seems to be in slightly better shape. I was thinking 290 originally, then thought 250 more realistic, then saw the recent ebay sale. Either ebay or the swap takes 15% cut, and the swap is by far the easier option. One thing about the swap, it is always heavily attended (college town) and people rush the floor and tend to grab stuff without too much thought. I dont have to sell, but most definitely would like to find it a home where it will be ridden or kept in good condtion. A few pics post rehab last summer, but has been covered inside since. I tuned it last week for the swap which is in 2 weeks.
