1986 Raleigh USA Competition
Hello, I picked this bike up the other day. I bought it because it's 531 and looks pretty cool and is at least in the ballpark of fitting me. And the price seemed reasonable. I adjusted the hubs, aired up the tires and took it out for a spin. It is a really nice ride! But I'm having some second thoughts -- the money is probably better used elsewhere (having a baby soon). If I were to give it a good cleaning and a full tune-up (and take nicer photos), what do you think it could sell for? The SLC bike market is decent, not too crazy.
I believe it's a 61cm. Mostly original -- 600 shifters, mechs, crank, brakes, levers, hs. The wheelset is non-original but period-appropriate: 105 6 speed freehub w/Wolber rims, barely any brake wear. Bar tape is new. Hoods are new. Tires are new. Saddle is a Rolls in near-new shape.

Still learning
This is a 1986 Huffy era Comp. I own one, with pretty rough paint. Yours looks great and you have great photos too!! I'd suggest listing at $299 and maybe settle at $275.
Good luck!

If you only had it a few days and did a basic cleaning and tune up just pass a good deal on nice bike along. Just ask $20 -30 more than you paid for you effort to get it in shape.

I paid $300 for mine in October and it was in far worse shape.
(But I was buying back the bike that I got new in 1986 and sold several years ago... so I was willing to pay a premium.)

The bike looks very clean which will help its resale value. Also if you like the saddle and have something cheaper lying around, I'd swap it out. I like rolls saddles and this one is in good shape. I'd ask $300 for it and take maybe $250 for it. It sounds like you have the time to find the right buyer.

What am I missing?
OK, 531 main tubes, Huffy era. Still a nice bike.

I keep looking at this bike. Wish it was my size.
New tires, Rolls saddle, new tape, it looks great. I would pay $350 easy if it were my size and that kind of condition.
Give it a spit and a polish and list it for $400. You might just get close to it.

300ish is about right in my area, except that this bike is very large. Generally that's about the value of a 105-600 mid-80s bigger production bike, but in this case I think it's tougher to sell, and likely less valuable, due to size. Personally I'd probably value it less as a Raleigh than a comparable other Japanese bike, but others might add a "I know that name" premium. Tough to say, but I'd start it at 300ish and go from there.
