bridgestone city limit mixte
i found a bridgestone city limit mixte selling for $75. i'm thinking it's a 1991-- as it looks like the photo in top right corner (see below)
https://www.sheldonbrown.com/bridgest...ne-1991-25.htm
is this a good price?
what specifics should i look out for when checking out this bike?
i know, of course: avoid rust on frame set/stays, ascertainable bends etc.
i'm looking to have a friend fit a mixte with a rear internal hub for me, keeping the front brake- but stripping the rest.
so the condition of derailleur, rear brakes, etc. are only relevant in so far as giving me more bargaining room if they stink.
any/all input appreciated,
thanks for your time

Bridgestone has a bit of a cult following. Bridgestone made good bikes and this isn't bad for $75 assuming that everything operates well. When checking out a bike, make sure that the bike hasn't been crashed. Visually inspect the frame and see if it looks straight. Pick up the front wheel and spin it to see if it fits within the brake shoes and looks "reasonably" straight; do the same in the rear. Ride the bike and see if the gears work. Also while some rust on the frame and parts is OK, I wouldn't buy it if it is a rust bucket.

Still learning
+1 The cult following applies to Grant Petersen era Bridgestones. Without photos, any answer to "is it a good deal" is pure speculation. Which begs the question to the OP, well what else can you get for $75? Don't overthink it, you'll spend far more on your IGH wheelset.

Its not a mixte, its a step through frame. Step throughs are fine, but do not have the market valuue of mixtes, nothing close.
+1 Do not overthink a $75 bike. If you like it, why not?

Bill's right. According to the great Sheldon, mixtes have an extra set of stays between the seatstay & chainstay. Scroll down to mixte: https://sheldonbrown.com/gloss_m.html

@ Bill & bargainguy -- yr right on about it not being a "mixte" proper, i was just simplifying that it wasn't a standard frame,
nor a "regular" step through with parallel sloping top & down tubes. (more to identify it with the appropo catalog photo linked)
although i have to say, a frame with a singular top tube (vs. sheldon's id of "pair of small diameter tubes") but which still continues through the seat tube & splits into twin stays -- is also considered a mixte, to my knowledge.
see: Rivendell Betty Foy; Rene Herse mixte, Schwinn le tour mixtes..
anyhow, the CL seller is strange & let the post expire [which is why i couldn't ad photo] although we're still communicating about it.
i didn't think that Peterson had designed the city limit bikes, but that they were still reputable & well-built.
just wanted to put it out there in case it was gonna draw some nightmare stories like the firenze give-away bikes of the 70s... eeesh.
yeah, i'm seriously looking to save money but find a solid frameset b/c i know the IGH is gonna cost me.
will hopefully get this one then.
thanks everyone
