80's Peugeot Road/Touring bike

Greetings,

I am looking for a decent commuter bike that I can mount with a rack and fenders. I currently have a 1990 specialized sirrus, and like the lugged steel, but it is too big for me. I can across this one, and am on a tight budget, hard to get info from the seller.

https://seattle.craigslist.org/see/bik/4069522445.html

Can anyone spot what model and year this is and would it be a good call to fix up as a commuter?

Thank for any help.

Looks to be an early 1980's Pug. Maybe a 1981 PFN10, which would be highly desireable. Usually there is a paper tag affixed to the chainstay by the leftside crank with SN and model number and from size. retropeugeot.com has all the catalogs. Pretty sure it has alloy rims so should be fine in the rain. It will work. You should get pretty good money for your Specialized.

Edit: If it is a PFN10, the Oracle thinks BikeMig's FMV is way low.

Very decent bike. I wouldn't pay $225 for this but it is Seattle. It looks like the "racing" version of the basic UO-10. It has a high tensile steel frame and very decent alloy parts. It's a pretty decent bike and will make a good commuter. Personally I'd look for a vintage bike that has center pull brakes as that generally means you can fit a little fatter tire which is a plus on a commuter. I'd give this bike a pass at this price unless you can talk the seller down to a more reasonable price like $150.

Is that a Reynolds decal I spy covered up by that stupid clamp on fender? If so, go for it! It looks like it'll take fenders, might have to share eyelets to put a rack on too.

The forks are hi-tensile steel. I can't make out the frame sticker on the seat tube. Sure if the main triangle is Reynolds 531, then the bike is a PKN 10 and well worth the asking price. I think this is a lower end Peugeot but can't be certain with these pics.

It was Reynolds 501 tubing. I passed on the bike, due to it being too small, esp. considering rack and bags. I think i will keep looking till I find a touring frame. Thanks again for the advice.
