Opinions need on 1983 Schwinn Voyageur
Hello fellow bikers,
I am very new to biking and thinking to get one now. What do you think about this bike and the asking price?
Thank you in advance.

Schwinn Voyageur Road Bike 1983, light blue metallic. The paint is very good, but does have some defects. The seat tube measures 22" center to center. I am 5'9" and have it adjusted for me to ride very well, and I think it would work well for someone 5'9"-6'. It has new tires and tubes, a spare tube, new bar tape, new brake lever hoods, IT NOW HAS THE ORIGINAL PEDALS AND SEAT BACK ON(seperate pic) . This bike and almost every component was made in Japan including the Shimano Deore SP components which along with everything else not previously mentioned are the bikes original equipment. Also this bike even has a kick stand! $100 firm
Thank you in advance.

Move quick before anybody else gets it. Ask later. This is a steal (if it is your size of course).

Constant tinkerer
The amazing deals (this one for example) do not last. I would've expected it to be gone in maybe an hour or two. Too many people searching for good deals, and flipping bikes anywhere near any decent sized city.
But don't worry, you'll find something.

Still learning
Ninety minutes from Little Rock puts you in "Hootersville." As WRK101 says, you have to be willing to drive when you live in a remote location. The transportation costs including tolls ($28 in my quest this week), weigh-in on what's a great deal.
Also, if you want to minimize cost, find a steel chromoly mountain bike, rigid without any suspension, and change the tires to narrow 1.5" road slicks. This past year I have bought Trek 930, Trek 950 (project), Trek 990 (project), Miyata Ridge Runner, Miyata Terra Runner, Specialized Rockhopper, Specialized HardRock, for between $50-$90. $30 worth of tires and tubes makes a huge difference in speed and smoothness.
Then over time, you can make modifications to the handlebar setup, shifters, etc.
A 16-18" frame should be ideal for you.

Thank you so much for the tip on MTB and tires swap. There are quite a lot of MTB on CL.
And I don't mind to drive at all, just the time and day wasn't right because I am in the office.
