Help on this old benotto!!

Hi All!!
I´m new on this, I bought a couple of weeks ago an old bicycle here in Mexico, I have been trying to figure out which brand is the frame and the model.

Some clues about this bicycle:
HANDLE BAR:
CINELLI 1R STEM ( I believe it is from the 60´s but not sure)
FIAME ITALY HANDLEBAR

WHEELS & BRAKES:
-SHIMANO 600 EQUIPMENT
-SHIMANO BRAKES EXAGE MOTION
-ARAYA 700 RIMS
-WHEEL HUB: SHIMANO RX100

GEARS:
-SUNTOUR ACCUSHIFT PLUS LITE DOWNTUBE SHIFTERS
-SHIMANO PEDALS
-FRONT DERAILLEUR: SUNTOUR
-REAR DERAILLEUR: SHIMANO DEORE DX

FRAME:
-Made in steel, because it presents some rusty spots
-SILVA Brake Bridge
-GIPIEMME Front and Rear Dropouts
-HEART SHAPED Cutout at the bottom bracket.

SEAT:
Strong Seat Tube
Seat SELLE Stratos HyperPro

I still cannot find the year of this bike nor the model. The seat lugs are different from the other Benotto bikes I´ve seen on the web. The only one that had this seat lug is one that has the Columbus twisted steel frame.

Here you can see the pictures ( the bicycle has already been cleaned, all the metals polished and the tires are brand new )

ALL YOUR HELP WILL BE VERY APPRECIATED!!

I too thought De Rosa on seeing the bottom bracket however I would expect some pantographs on the seat tube caps, brake bridge and fork crown. The brake cable through the top tube and vertical rear dropouts suggest late 80s or early 90s. The Gipiemme dropouts are unlikely on a top of the range model. Is there a chance it's a Magistroni!

What does the pantograph on the stem say?

If the stem is from the 60s, it's probably not original... that frame looks newer to me. In fact it looks like quite a few of the pieces may have been swapped.

My Benotto has a heart shape on the BB also.

Wow, I guess that's not much help. Anyways nice looking bike!

Have you checked the width of the bottom bracket shell? It would be a quick way of ruling out an Italian frame as. Italian bottom brackets are 70mm wide and both cups screw in clockwise whereas almost all others are 68mm and the fixed cup is reverse thread.

Thank you Sir!
In fact I truly believe that this bike was assembled in different moments. Some of the transmission stuff from shimano is from the 80´s.
The stem is a 1R Cinelli, it does look original, its has written MAGISTRONI on both sides, it has it Cinelli number either on the front plate as well at the bottom. But as you said, maybe the first owner assembled the bike with spare parts.
Thank you for saying nice looking bike! I do appreciate it, I´ve spent a lot of hours cleaning all the components and adjusting it, the ride is so precise!!

Cheers!

Yes, I just checked the width and is 70mm, I can´t tell right now if both cups screw in clockwise. I don´t have the tool to unscrew. But I´ll ask at the bicycle shop

Thanks a lot!! I think I´m getting closer to discover which brand is this frame.

Cheers!

Another quick check would be to look at the seat pillar. Take it out of the frame and look at the size which should be marked on it. 27.2 would indicate a top level tubing such as Columbus SL and 27.0 or smaller would suggest a lower ranking tubeset.

Are there interesting detials cuttouts markings on the fork crowns. Most High end Italian bikes from this era had maker specific details on the crowns. If the bike is Bennetto or Derosa I would expect to see some kind of makers mark detailing on the crwons.

Hi zukahn1! Thanks for replying! Well this is the picture from the fork crown, and no brand name on them.

Well...today the people from Benotto Mexico (really nice people!) that unfortunately my bike frame is not an authentic Benotto
The told me that the only dropouts they used were Campagnolo and there are no markings on the bottom bracket that indicate serial numbers...and of course the lack of Benotto pantographed marking on the seat stays...
